What the Desk Keeps Running Into, Written Down as It Happens
This is not a content programme. Somebody writes one of these when the same conversation has happened at the counter enough times that it is quicker to point at a page. Six entries so far, all of them about equipment ageing rather than equipment buying.

Counting Rounds Instead of Years: Grip Cadence in Dry Heat
Rubber does not fail on a calendar. It fails on exposure, and a Sacramento summer delivers a season of exposure in about ten weeks. Why we log grip life in rounds played and what the glazing actually costs you.

What Six Years of Bend Checks Look Like When Somebody Writes Them Down
We re-gauge every set that comes back on a scheduled recheck and the readings go into the file. Here is the shape of that data, including the parts that surprised us and the part that is uncomfortable to publish.

Hardpan Summers and What They Quietly Do to a Sole
From June the fairways in this region go bone firm and stay that way until the overseed. That stretch changes leading edges, effective bounce, and which wedge in your bag you should stop trusting.

Mat Practice Burns Specifications Faster Than Golf Does

The Wrench in Your Bag Is Probably Lying to You

Every Line on a Service File, and the Reason It Is There
A walk through the sheet we print at the end of a baseline session, field by field, including the ones golfers ignore and the two that make a later visit short and cheap.
What you will not find in here
No model reviews, no release-week coverage, no ranked lists. We do not test enough heads across enough golfers to have a defensible opinion about which driver is best, and publishing one anyway would be exactly the sort of confident nonsense this bench exists to avoid.
What we do have is six years of readings taken off the same machines by the same four people, which is a narrow dataset with one genuine virtue: it is ours, and we can tell you exactly how it was collected.
Reading is not measuring
Everything here describes patterns across a lot of golfers. Your set has its own numbers, and an hour on the bench produces them.
